Behind the Scenes: Creating Dunvegan Castle

Right now I am taking some time out from the story to work on Eric and Brennie’s home on the Isle of Skuy. We will use Eric’s spelling and wording for the place!

Our first hurdle was of course finding a place that would somewhat resemble Isle of Skye. Please keep in mind that we have limited options as I limit our town/worlds to those provided by EA. Yes, there are some amazing worlds created but my game does not like them very much and they cause me much frustration and hair pulling!

I decided to go with Aurora Skies.

These are in game photos of the town before I removed all of the pre-existing houses and community lots.

I find that once everything is removed from the world, the graphic and the scenery are far better!

With that removal, we get closer to what Isle of Sky looks like!

The hardest part about this build is the fact that I am using a real Castle as my inspiration and I want to come as close as possible in recreating it. I certainly won’t get exact, but hopefully I will get close enough for it to be recognizable!

It’s a start…

I decided to work first on the portion that I thought might be the most difficult to re-create. The Castle has a beautiful gardens and I did want to be sure to include them in my representation!
